Etermet Compact Shelving

COMPACT SHELVING: MAXIMIZE EVERY METER OF YOUR WAREHOUSE

The shelving on mobile bases Etermet allows you to increase storage capacity by maximizing the available space. Thanks to a system of mobile bases that slide on floor-mounted tracks, it is possible to eliminate the need for multiple fixed aisles and open only the one needed for picking and deposit operations.

The movement system can be manual (via flyer) or electric, with integrated motors and control systems that can be managed from the control panel.

The Etermet mobile bases integrate perfectly with the shelving of the line Trenta5, dedicated to the light loads, and with the line 6Strong, designed for applications at medium-heavy load. Each system is custom-built based on available space, required flow rates, and the company's operational flows, offering a personalized and reliable solution.

Where are compact shelving units used?

Compact shelving finds application in very different contexts:

  • Document archives
  • Libraries
  • Retail sector and fashion
  • Industrial warehouses
  • Automotive sector
  • Pharmaceutical sector

Each facility is the result of a dedicated project. Etermet technicians analyze available space, handling flows, and load units to develop a customized layout using 2D and 3D CAD software, optimizing storage capacity, ergonomics, and safety.

Types of compactable systems

Manual System

The operator activates the movement by turning the handwheel, located on the front panel of the shelf, in the desired opening direction. This is an economical, robust, and energy-efficient solution.

Electrical System

The corridor is opened using a control panel located on the front of each mobile base. Integration with WMS systems is possible.

The advantages of Etermet compact shelving

  • Increased storage capacity: up to +90% compared to traditional fixed shelving
  • Saving floor space: up to +50% compared to traditional fixed shelving
  • Quick access to materials: only the necessary corridor is opened, reducing travel and improving the efficiency of pick-up and drop-off operations
  • Adaptability: Suitable for any type of use. From small parts to medium-heavy loads, from archives to warehouses.
  • Personalizationin: available in various colours, starting from the standard finishes (galvanised, RAL 7035 Grey)
  • Goods Protection: Closed aisles and dust seals protect materials from unauthorized access, dust and moisture
  • Safety: equipped with safety devices such as anti-crushing and anti-tipping systems, presence sensors and acoustic/luminous signals, to ensure maximum safety during handling operations

Frequently Asked Questions

Mobile shelving units move on tracks fixed to the floor. When not in use, the aisles are closed, concentrating the entire storage capacity in a minimal space.
The operator opens the required lane by turning the handwheel (manual system) or by pressing a button (electric system).

Mobile shelving is a storage system in which metal shelves slide on floor tracks. The aisles open only where needed, eliminating fixed aisles and increasing storage density.

In the manual system, the operator activates the movement via a handwheel. In the electric system, the bases are motorized and controlled via a panel or app.

There are three types of rails:

  • Overlapping with platform and slide
  • Overlapping with double slide
  • Recessed into the floor

In all cases the rails are perfectly level with the floor surface.

Mobile shelving solutions can be customized based on available space, load units and capacities used, handling and sliding systems, finish (internal painting process), and the wide range of accessories available (doors, linings, drawers, etc.). The Etermet design team will develop a dedicated layout to best meet your company's storage needs.

For archives and libraries, the Trenta5 (light loads) system is preferred, with specific accessories for managing folders, boxes, and volumes. The manual system is generally sufficient for this type of use.

Existing Etermet systems can be converted into mobile shelving by installing floor-mounted sliding guides. The mobile bases are designed based on the geometry of the rooms and the dimensions of the shelving units.

By eliminating most fixed aisles, a compact shelving system can increase the storage capacity up to 90% or allow for surface savings up to 50%, depending on the system configuration and available space.
